Just a heads up for anyone thinking of banking with Wells Fargo: they apparently think they are above state and federal law.

I have a valid, judge-signed court order for a name change. I’ve jumped through every hoop, provided the certified copies, and showed my new ID. Yet, weeks/months later, my accounts were still under my old name. Every time I call, I get a different answer. One manager even told me - paraphrasing - yes, we received your request to change your name per “the order of court” we see it … we received the fax with this order and your request on March 5th, 2025. … months later … paraphrasing, we changed your last name as of September 25th, 2025 as you requested.

It’s 2026—how is a national bank this incapable of processing a standard legal document? If you're planning a name change, save yourself the headache and move your money elsewhere before you start the process.

I’ve been traumatized by Wells Fargo by not respecting the court order of Change of my last name. I changed my name in court on January 11, 2023 and it Wells Fargo still refuses to acknowledge my new name and keep sending me letters in the prior name causing me to go to panic attacks. Almost every time I see in the mailbox a letter, two letters, or more with the last name of the abuser of 21. years, I, I… Stop calling me names, don’t call me names, don’t hit me, don’t yell at me, don’t corner me, ….

I got my last name changed in court. I changed my social security card the same month and drivers licence withing 2 month from the order. What are the laws? My pasport expired in the old name. What to know? How about mortgage, deed, travel, ... I don't know. Whys did my name changed back to my prior. I havent used it. Is it identity fraud possibley involved. I am thrying to make sence out of this. My ex was ... for 21 years. I get kind of frozen to act to rezolve this. Letters in mail swapped from new name to old and now to new again. If someone is doing it, I don't want to be blaimed for this. This scares me. I have my house deed on old name but my mortgage is on the new. I am worried not to do anything incorrectly.
