AITA for drinking an energy drink after my headteacher tried to confiscate it?
I’m 15, and this happened just last week.
So, my school recently banned energy drinks, and now teachers can check your bag if they think you’ve got one. Pretty much everyone thinks it’s overkill, but nobody says anything since our headteacher is super strict.
Last week at lunch, I grabbed a big Red Bull from the shop just outside school. Totally forgot it was still in my bag. When I got back through the gates, the headteacher stopped me in front of a bunch of people and asked to check my bag.
He found the Red Bull right away and started practically shouting about “setting an example” and “health concerns.” Seriously, everyone nearby started staring. It was embarrassing—he could’ve just taken the drink quietly but decided to make it this huge deal.
He said he was confiscating the Red Bull and gave me an after-school detention.
And this is probably where I messed up.
I got annoyed and basically said, “Well, if you’re taking it, I might as well enjoy it first," then opened the can and started chugging it right in front of him. People nearby started laughing and filming, which just made everything feel even worse.
My headteacher got furious and sent me to isolation for the rest of the day for being “disrespectful.” Now, the video’s going around school and my parents got called in.
My friends say it was hilarious and that he had it coming for embarrassing me like that, but my mum says I acted immature and only made things worse.
