My favorite aspect + some confirmation

My favorite aspect is how okabe gathers all the antagonist he got to know in the alpha world line and convinces/black mails them into helping him using knowledge from the alpha world line. Just to reach the alpha world line again/erasing the torment of regret he experienced on the beta world line.

Like I understood it the okabe we follow in s;g never experience the story of the beta world lines and has no memories of it.

On what word line/loop does the mayuri mayuri phone call happen? I assume it's 1 iteration before s;g in which okabe fails and creates the video dmail for our okabe to receive, right?

Lower control arm stuck

The bolt is fused with the inner cylinder of the bearing. I can turn the bolt and the inner cylinder is turning with it. Hammering on the bolt for hours did nothing. As you can see it's completely bathed in anti seize without luck. I'm close to sacrificing the lower control arm and just cutting it to free the trailing arm from it and press the rest of the bushing out.

Compile time evaluation

I want to include compile time evaluation in my language.

For context I have most of the language design and compiler planned out and am currently implementing it. Currently writing the parser that turns a stream of tokens into the ast. The plan is to target llvm ir for the moment.

While I have enough to do before I have to address it I want to get some information about executing code at compile time. I am explicitly not talking about macros for them I already have an idea. My questions are:

  1. How to decide rather to execute a function or keep the call in code

  2. Security concern about access to the system on compile time evaluation

  3. How to execute it without writing a separate interpreter

  4. Does llvm provide any supporting features for this

Thanks

Future after the story

After reaching the Steins;gate world line we know that okabe, kurisu and all the other lab members are together and alive. They are not building the time machine and no other party currently posses the science to do it.

Sounds good for 10-20 years. Likely no one will invent it during that time frame. But the fundamental technology required to build one exists in this world. Sern isn't driven by the captured dmail to invent it but they are still experimenting with spinning black holes.

The accidental discovery of time travel is likely.

To prevent ww2 or sern dystopia from happening and to stay on the Steins;Gate world line a rather unstable and small attractor field the lab should still develop time travel tech and just deeply burry it somewhere just in case so they can keep the world line stable.

Finding another route to Steins;Gate after either sern or the 2 world powers shift the world line to either beta or alpha after the tightly knitted number of known fix points in 2010/11 along with them not having a time machine could easily shift okabe to a alpha or beta world line where they also don't have a time machine and no means of making one. This concern stems from the concept of minimal shift. Meaning that okabe would shift to the closest alpha or beta time line where the events are most similar therefore likely no time machine was built by the lab.

Overall the story dances on a pretty thin line of events that rely on many fix points working to the labs favor. Without those fix points or even worse less favorable fix points for example a close death fix point of okabe giving them no time to work with could be tremendously cement the change away from Steins;Gate.

[Spoiler]

Time travel experiments in Russia

How do the time travel experiments in Russia effect the exact moment okabe switches to the beta attractor field?

I mean when he is shifted back to "heart attack mayuri" alpha world line where he also avoided serns raid but couldn't save mayuri (a pretty special and interesting worldline btw) he doesn't know what made the shift.

We then see that the previously mentioned earth quakes in Russia are the cause for the shift.

Then at the end we see the effect of the dmail kurisu send to herself. Which resulted in her coming too late to say goodbye to okabe at the moment he switched to the beta worldline in the original anime.

Which means that the cannon events of the heart attack alpha world line are that kurisu arrives at the lab earlier and okabe "fails to sacrifice" her and instead tears down the telewave sacrificing mayuri in favor of kurisu.

The beta worldline we are originating from from that pov had the events that okabe stopped telewave development before or after the first dmail. Meaning kurisu is never saved and dies in the radio kaikan by okabe or by her father.

The question is what did the Russian time travel experiments change to the beta timeline that kurisu doesn't die (switching to the alpha attractor field)?

Switching attractor fields can only occur by changing key events that are bound to the attractor field.

We also see that on the heart attack alpha world line the kurisu doesn't meet okabe in the radio kaikan. Suggesting that because the heart attack alpha line is the closest to the beta line regarding the Russian experiments effects.

So likely whatever caused Suzuha to crash land was also caused by Russian experiments.

So there is a unknown cannon event triggered by both the Russian experiments and okabes first dmail that result in Suzuha crashing on the roof of the radio kaikan.

Beta okabe

I'm currently sweeping through my re-watch in chronological order. The events of the main series were still strongly remembered by me even after years of not watching it. Now that I have "switched" to the beta worldline and watching 0 I feel like I am watching it for the first time. I remember the characters original to the series but I don't remember the plot at all. Especially beta okabe being completely useless and living close to a normal university life while the others are "progressing the plot" and discovering new information. For reference I'm currently on episode 15 of 0. I feel like we see so much interesting trivia and new background information about how the years after the summer of 2010 are and how the characters like suzuha are shaped to the way they are. Sure many things about the future differ compared to the alpha world line. But things like suzuhas mother dying protecting her are the same and Daru being the real mvp of the story in every worldline.

For context I am on my way to upgrade the whole suspension and drivetrain to the m3 one. This includes the front reinforcement plate seen in the 2nd picture. Problem is that the hole for the drain plug doesn't match between m54 and s54. Meaning I would have to take the plate off om every oil change with the m54. I'm going to drive this setup for some time before getting an s54 as the plan goes but in the meantime I have to find a solution.

My idea was to attach a line to the drain plug and fixate the line somewhere I can get to when doing an oil change. Has anyone done something like that and can suggest fittings and hoses?

I read the drain plug is either a 15mm or 17mm (will measure on next oil change). The current plan is to get an AN adapter on there and connect some oil cooler hose to it with a valve or block off fitting on the other end that seals tight reliably but can be opened for an oil change.

I'm open to suggestions apart from "don't do it..." stuff. I won't be cutting the reinforcement plate either.

I build hyprland from source and when I tried to update it and it's dozen dependencies some didn't compile.

I did a git pull and a git clean before trying to compile. Didn't work.

When I deleted the directory and cloned the projects again they all built successfully.

Despite being a developer I usually don't use git via the console often so there is a chance I'm doing something wrong. I never had such issues with my own projects though.

Title: Time leap time shortage

I don't understand okabes doing in this situation.

We know from kurisu that the time leap machine can leap 48 hours. Why does okabe only leap 3-4 hours in the first few leaps. I get why they did a small leap the first time to make sure it works. But after the first leap the theory is proven and he could definitely leap further.

But he still leaps to the same starting point every time and always runs out of time doing anything (not that it would have helped escaping). But even once he is clear and talks to kurisu and they make a plan, they are still short on time.

Only then kurisu plans on leaping further but just 5 hours to just before the machine is completed. With the fixed 48 hour window he still could have built the leap machine in less then 48 hours. This way he could have leaped all the way back before the first dmail skipping all the trouble of backtracking them.

Even if the dmails couldn't be undone this way he could have had a lot of time in which he wasn't hours away from getting captured.

Every time he tried a new way of getting mayuri out of danger he risked dying in some way. Okabe and mayuri dieing running away and the others getting captured would have ended the leap loops with a bad ending. So every try and near miss was a huge risk of loosing another chance to change something.

I plan on restoring the original look of my center console eventually, retiring my 2din android radio. I have the version with a cassette deck similar to the image. I was wondering what funny mods I could do with the slot as I won't be playing cassettes with it.
