Long-time Charlotte local recovering from severe road rage hit-and-run — need guidance/resources

I’m not really sure where else to ask this, but I could genuinely use advice from people who’ve experienced long-term recovery or financial hardship.

I’m a long-time Charlotte local and single mother. In 2024, I survived a severe hit-and-run road rage incident in Charlotte that left me with catastrophic injuries, including over 28 broken bones, nerve damage, weeks in the ICU, and a long recovery process learning how to walk again. The driver was eventually convicted, but there was no insurance coverage available to help with the aftermath.

For a long time, I avoided sharing my situation publicly while the legal case was ongoing. Over the past couple of years, I’ve mostly tried to survive quietly through savings, gig work, and pushing through recovery day by day.

But financially and physically, things have started catching up to me. I’m still dealing with chronic pain and mobility issues, my savings are nearly gone, and I’m struggling to maintain stability while continuing recovery and supporting my children.

I recently made a GoFundMe, but honestly I don’t really know how people in situations like this actually get their stories seen online without sounding like they’re begging.

I’m not directly asking anyone here for money — I’m mainly asking for advice:

- Where can someone respectfully share a recovery story like this?
- Are there organizations, local resources, or online communities that actually help?
- What helped you or someone you know get through a situation like this?

I’d genuinely appreciate any advice or guidance. Thank you for reading.
