Fake Cake - Rhinestone Edition

I got a tiny cake stand from Walmart and painted it white.

The “cake” is made of foam and is 4” in diameter. I painted it light purple and then covered the top and sides with rhinestones.

The “icing” is spackle mixed with white paint. I piped that on the top and bottom borders. When it dried I added seed and bugle beads to look like sprinkles.

I added flower beads to the edge of the cake stand and put a rhinestone in the center of each flower.

Then I gave it a clear coat and I was done!

Fake Cupcakes!

I had this wood tray from Michael’s and I got an idea. I made some fake cupcakes using styrofoam cupcakes. I painted them to look like chocolate and vanilla. Then I use air-dry foam clay and piping bags for the icing. I made cherries out of polymer clay and the stems are made of bugle beads and glass leaf beads. Using tweezers, I added more bugle beads, seed beads, and other beads as the sprinkles. I added rhinestones to some of the cherries, but two of them I did not bedazzle because I wanted to see what they looked like. I have the cupcakes a clear coat. Then I painted the tray red and affixed the cupcakes using Alien Tape. I hung it in the wall by our coffee bar in the kitchen! The Frankenstein piece is my personal artwork that I made as well.

I had this wooden box from Michael’s laying around, so I decided to turn it into a fake cake! I painted the exterior white and the interior pink. Then I colored some spackle using acrylic paint - it had the same texture as buttercream! I added that to a pastry bag with a decorating tip and piped the borders. I painted little round wooden beads red and bedazzled them to look like raspberries. I added pearls from some junk jewelry I had. Then I added flatback pearls and nail art charms. The sprinkle are seed beads. For the last step, I added some acrylic leaves and then sprayed the whole thing inside and out with a clear coat.
