At What Point Did Tony Become Irredeemable?

Maybe he always was, but at what point it did become apparent to you? I'm remember this show from years ago, and the arch that stands out to me is the guy getting an inheritance, he was a loyal solider as I recall, and just wanted out. As I recall, he was squeezed for cash and ultimately committed suicide.

For me that was the point at which Tony wasn't just stuck in a cycle/'tradition' he was really better than or stood a chance of overcoming. Instead, he was the worst thing about that kind of system. It would have been so easy to just let the guy go and get out of the life of crime. If Tony truly resented that life, I think he would have let him. Instead, he became (or always was) the manifestation par excellence of that life of criminality.
