I'm new to United (former Southwest flyer).

I booked a r/t flight from SJC to DEN in July. According to Google Flight tracker, the airfare has decreased since my original economy seat booking (I did not book basic economy). When I click on the Google link to redirect me to the United website, it shows the Google airfare rate. However, when I go to my Upcoming Flights on United, and click change flights (and look up the exact same flights), it shows no economy seats available. The seating chart shows plenty of seats available. Is there a "trick" to rebooking exisiting flights at a lower fare (to have any refund applied to future flight credits)?
