How do you master setter positioning?

I’ve only been playing for about two months as a setter and have been facing a hard time with footwork. When my teammates receive it, I’m aware it isn’t always gonna be perfect so it might end up being an over-pass or short pass and that’s where I end up miscalculating where the ball is gonna go. The ball’s trajectory seems like it’s gonna directly go into my hands just for it to slightly go past my head. What are some tips to avoid mis-predictions and positioning?
