2027 hybrid, 1 month update

I first posted about my purchase here Here. (first brand new car and first hybrid). A couple of commenters asked if I would update after a few weeks.

I now have over 1500 miles on my 2027 hybrid EX AWD.

Pros:

  1. Really happy with the exterior color and style, and people comment on it all the time. The black Jade green is distinct without being flashy. And it’s just a cool looking car.
  2. Its a very smooth and quiet ride, but also it feels energetic / preppy when you accelerate. I’m in the car a lot transporting my kids, and it definitely is a fun driver experience.
  3. the interior comfort, quality, spaciousness, tech & safety features are all a big step up from my prior 2019 Sorento S. It’s a huge upgrade - not sure how others would feel coming from newer / higher trim models, but that’s my experience.
  4. I’m getting about 34 mpg / 570 miles per tank.
  5. the captain’s chairs, cargo space behind 2nd row, and 3rd row comfort are all really great for this size vehicle. We have 3 kids ages 10-16 and they’re all comfortable taking turns in the 3rd row.

Cons:

  1. I am small framed and have my seat position close to the steering wheel & elevated, such that the sun visor can’t move properly from the in front position to the swiveled driver side door position (if you can picture that). It hits the headrest of my seat and can’t swivel all the way unless I move my seat back, but then I have to inch forward again and repeat the process when I want to return the sun shade to its windshield position. I’m sure this isn’t a problem for most people.
  2. I would have liked a non-two-tone all-light interior option (where the seats and sides are solid beige/taupe/ gray without color-blocked black) ; they weren’t available on my trim level with this exterior color in my area. The all black looks good but I know will be hot in the summer.
  3. several times a day, the car alerts me that my headlights are off (but in full daylight conditions which don’t require headlights). I’m not sure if there’s a fix for this or I can turn it off?
  4. I knew the climate control location was a complaint a lot of people had, and it‘s not my favorite, but I’m getting used to it.

I’m still getting the hang of lane assist, cruise control, driver assist etc. The lane correction feels a little aggressive and I may need to dive deep into the settings to have It set properly for my preferences; just haven’t taken the time.

Overall very happy with this purchase. I look forward to getting in it each day. I did a lot of research on comparable other models before making my choice and I’ve been very satisfied so far.
