Question about Flamethrower abilities
I'm trying to find out which lvl 4 and 7 abilities (if any) work best with the ult for farming green papers. (Sorry if this is a repeat question but I searched and the answers were a few years old and not very clear.)
So, the Ult description is:
> Instantly kills enemies in direct fire who have less than 1% HP left. Killed enemies drop Green Papers. Burning enemies receive +7% damage for any other enemy in range of 1 tile.
My understanding is that bonus GP are dropped whenever an enemy is killed by the Ult ability (for being in direct fire while <1% HP). To me that means that I want enemies to take as much damage as possible while in direct fire, so that they're more likely to die while they're in it.
So, looking at the three lvl 4/7 abilities:
> Plasma ignition: Damage to enemies in direct fire x1.38
> Napalm: Burning time x1.4, damage x1.2, direct damage x0.8. If Cold fire is enabled - +25% freezing and +75% damage to burning enemies
> Cold fire: Damage 0.8x, slows down enemies by 25%, doesn't ignite them and doesn't reduce Freezing effect. Deals +75% damage to burning enemies, cold flame pierces through everything.
So to my n00b understanding:
- Plasma ignition: Benefits the Ult because it increases damage to enemies in direct fire, which means they're more likely to die in it and drop bonus GP
- Napalm: Bad for the Ult because it reduces direct damage - the increased burning time and burning damage doesn't benefit the Ult because we need enemies to die IN the fire, not after they've left it
- Cold fire: Maybe bad for the Ult - it reduces damage by 20% but slows enemies by 25% so overall they're taking more damage from direct fire by being in it for longer? BUT, it doesn't ignite enemies, so they're not also taking burning damage while in direct fire... and so it seems likely that it's an overall damage-while-in-Ult-range reduction
Side question: Is there an expected use for the Cold fire + Napalm combo? Both increase damage to burning enemies, but if Cold fire is enabled the FT isn't igniting them, so they aren't burning! Am I meant to have another FT or a Minigun with Burning bullets as a source of burning so the Cold fire FT does the additional damage? If so, the enemies are burning so they're getting the reduced Freezing effect, which seems to defeat a lot of the point of Cold fire in the first place.
