Just wanted to share my personal timeline for anyone going through the process right now.

I officially signed up with a recruiter on Dec 5th. By Dec 29th, I had my packet ready to go for Cohoes. I was scheduled to head down there on Jan 27th, and that same day I set up my psychological exam for the 29th and 30th (including the 1-on-1).

2 weeks later I cleared my medical.

After that, it was the "No news is good news" phase for a while.

On March 8th, I got an email asking for proof of my GED. Then, on March 19th, my investigator reached out about some dispositions for charges I had already disclosed in my packet. One of those documents took two weeks to track down, which slowed things down a bit.

Between April 21st and 23rd, it was just a few last-minute questions, submitting paystubs, and final document reviews to clear my file.

Finally, on April 27th, I got the call for the Academy.

Everyone’s timeline is different. I had to deal with some hurdles for things that happened 16 years ago, but pushing through it just showed my dedication. My best advice is to have all your ducks in a row and be 100% honest—it makes the whole process move much faster.

Good luck
