Hi, the owner of my apartment in Amsterdam is selling the apartment I’ve rented for the last couple years and has asked if I’m interested in buying it and seems willing to skip a competitive bidding process.

I am interested, but wanted advice on how to decide a good price to offer beyond looking at similar size properties in the neighborhood. The place is in relatively good condition, but also in need of some updating which many owners would probably do before selling.
