Seniors: Now that you've survived the college app process — what would you tell your 9th-grade self? Drop your best advice below.

Congrats to everyone who made it through this cycle! Whether you're headed to your dream school, your safety, or somewhere in between, I hope you feel proud of his marathon process.

Now that you're on the other side of this. What would you have done differently starting High School freshman year?

Some prompts to get you thinking (answer any or all):

  • What did you wish you'd started earlier?
  • How would you alter your SAT/ACT prep?
  • Friend selection?
  • What did you waste time stressing about that turned out not to matter?
  • Anything about GPA, course selection, or rigor you'd change?
  • EC advice, quality vs. quantity, leadership, passion projects?
  • Changes to your personal statement? did you wish you'd started thinking about it?
  • What nobody tells you about how the process actually works?

No generic "just be yourself" answers, give the real stuff you wish someone had told you before you were drowning in CommonApp in October of senior year.

Thanks!

It’s like playing a Gen X John Hughes Movie - Just Finished "Mixtape" on PS5. Sharing some of my thoughts and observations and comments (non-spoilers and not a review).

I just wrapped up Mixtape on PS5. I really enjoyed the game. I don't consider myself a big gamer (I buy probably 4 games a year and probably average 3 hours a month in gaming). Very different than any game I’ve played (not a big simulator person).

  • I got this due to the buzz I've been hearing about + that its a short (I did it in 4 hr) campaign and it truly felt like playing a movie.
  • Maybe Super Bad esque movie. Animation is very much Spider-Verse
  • Honestly as O.G. gamer, it gave me Dragons Layer Vibes but happier as it’s intuitive, forgiving, rewards experimentation (i spent a solid 20-30 mins replaying slushy)
  • Like a cassette mixtape, there is a an A side and B side. I broke the game up around track 12/13..
  • The final Track on Side A (🖕🖕Level) is currently my favorite level.
  • I hope we get additional content but don't think so
  • The skateboarding mechanics around is soooooo much fun
  • Camera motion sooometimes got weird but not distracting. I only got throw off course that I wasn’t watching a movie
  • I can envision this as a fun game to bring people over and play with a group (they watch it as a movie and you audience asks the player
  • 4.20/5 stars (would have been a 5/5 but i haven’t figured out how to get high in the game yet). All jokes aside it’s a 9.5/10. Great game. Also let me know if you figured out how to get blazed

Let me know if you have any questions and I'll try my best to answer or provide my POV.
