Hey everyone! I’m currently working in Abu Dhabi, while my fiancée is in India. She’s been a doctor there for two years after her MBBS and is now at a crossroads—where should she do her post-graduation (PG)?
We plan to eventually live together in the UAE, but here’s the challenge:
- Getting into a PG program in the UAE as an expat with an MBBS from India is difficult.
- If she does her PG in India, she’ll need around three years of PG studies plus three years of experience to become a specialist recognized in the UAE. That’s potentially six more years of long-distance before we can fully settle down and start a family here.
We’re stuck between these options, and it’s a big life call—balancing her career growth with our personal plans.
So, I’d love to hear from anyone who’s navigated something similar:
Are there alternative pathways we haven’t considered?
If you’ve moved to the UAE after medical specialization abroad, how did you manage it?
Any advice on balancing long-term career steps with personal life plans like ours?
Any honest perspectives would really help us think clearer. Thanks a ton!
