The Meta mods must be asleep. For the last two days my Insta feed has been 50% actual uncensored pornography, and I don't like it!

I don't look at any X-rated or R-rated material online, but I am not ashamed to admit that I do enjoy looking at (clothed) milfs on Instagram, and my feed reflects that. (On normal days it's about 50% funny animals and 50% milf content.)

I've enjoyed this kind of stuff for a couple of years, but in the last two days something has changed: rather than the type of reels and pictures of women I normally see, Instagram has been serving up photos with full frontal (and... back-al?) nudity in addition to reels of uncensored X-rated pornography. I don't want this!

While I've seen the occasional intentional "nip slip" get by in reels before, I've never seen anything like this. It feels like their moderation AI has gone haywire. Anyone else being spammed with unexpected content recently?

EDIT: From what I can tell, all the accounts posting this stuff are new, and only have like 2-3 things posted. Most of them have seemingly bot-generated names, like "Helena2794798709744" and none of them are accounts I've seen or engaged with before.

▲ 3 r/Korg+1 crossposts

I bought a used Korg Opsix and Korg Minilogue XD from different locations and they both arrived today. Both are desktop models (no keyboards). The Opsix arrived with a power adapter for another piece of gear (but it worked on the Opsix) and the Minilogue XD arrived with no power supply at all, but I found one in the garage.

Both units power up. I can hear audio on both of them if I play the built-in sequencers, or on the Opsix if I switch it into keyboard mode I can trigger sounds that way.

However, I have not been able to get either unit to play anything via MIDI. I've tried both USB MIDI and 5-pin DIN MIDI. I have reset both to the factory settings. I have confirmed that each unit is set to MIDI Channel 1 and I am sending MIDI on Channel 1.

If I swap the MIDI/USB/audio cables with other (Roland) synths in my rig, they play with no problems at all. So my cables and connections are good. It really feels like both synths are broken, but even though they're both used it seems so strange that they would both be broken in the exact same way, right?

So I am wondering- for any of you who have experience with the Opsix or the Minilogue XD, is there any trick to getting them to receive/respond to external MIDI?

EDIT: Two more things.

First: I'm using Cubase Pro 15 and the MIDI Interfaces I've tried are MOTU Midi Express and the MIDI out of my Focusrite 18i20 4th gen. I routinely use both to control other synths. I also tried USB MIDI. I am running Windows 11 and I do NOT have the Korg MIDI drivers installed. (While troubleshooting I read that Korg is urging people not to use them on Win 11. I have never installed them.)

Second: The Minilogue was doing this weird behavior that I don't understand yet, but I wonder if MIDI is sort of working but massively out of sync somehow? Because while I was trying to get the thing to play MIDI from my DAW a couple of times I would start playing a sequence, and hear nothing for maybe 20 seconds- but then the Minilogue would start to play notes that didn't appear to correspond to the MIDI. Certainly not the right timing (it started 20 seconds late after all), but like the note lengths didn't appear to correspond to what was actually playing out of the DAW. I will have to experiment more to see if the notes I hear on the synth have any relation to the sequence I'm playing, but it's almost like the Minilogue was actually playing received MIDI, but it was in super slow motion, as if its MIDI clock was way off?

This has been an annoyance for as long as I've owned rack cases- even with all the lights on and the blinds open there wasn't enough light for me to be able to read the labels on the gear inside the case. I got fed up over the weekend and found an unused Ikea Ledberg strip light set in the garage. I first ran a strip of Scotch Mount Indoor double-sided mounting tape around the inside of the case and then I stuck the Ledberg lights to that. These lights were perfect because not only were they simple white non-flashing LEDs, but they also used a physical power switch instead of a remote. (You can see the switch in the lower right of the 2nd picture.)

This is part of my "Single Synth Project" where I choose one hardware synth from my collection and produce a full track with it. I program my own patches and use the synth's onboard effects whenever possible. I also use the synth's built-in drum sounds when available- otherwise I use drum samples.

For today's track I used my Roland Boutique SH-01A. The SH-01A is a significantly updated digital recreation of the analog Roland SH-101.

Beginning with this most recent entry, I am now sharing any patches I make for these tracks. If you are an SH-01A owner, you can download the patches here. (The zip archive includes a text file with a patch list. They will occupy the first two SH-01A patch banks, so you might want to back up your bank 1 & 2 patches first.)

I wrote an article covering the history and feature sets of the SH-101 and SH-01A to accompany this track.

I also have playlists for all my previous entries:

I am going to be starting a 90s Acid/Big Beat-style project soon, and it's going to involve a bit of sample-fu regarding drum loops and vocal chops. Lots of time-stretching and pitch-shifting and stutter-type effects.

I own Kontakt 6, HALion 7, and Falcon 2026. I've used all of them before for making drum kits and simple instruments (sampled pianos and synths), but I've never done any real sample manipulation with them.

Which of these samplers would be best (or worst) for this kind of work? It's going to be a learning process for me regardless, but I want to know which of my tools to start investing time in.

Thanks!
