For the last 4 years virginia tech has been this dream school of mine ever since I toured everyone in my family kinda knew how badly i wanted to go and i spent as much time on my essays and stuff, im majoring in econ and I'm committed to another university but deep in my heart I wanted to get off the waitlist so bad, i love virginia tech and campus and stuff but today there were like a wait list wave of acceptances and like i didnt get off so im feeling super hopeless and like upset, i want to have a life there i think i always knew i wouldnt be good enough to get in but i guess it actually sucks to see it happen i am so happy for everone in my life though genuinely i cannot tell you how deserving my friends are of this i just wish i was on the same boat as them but yeah thanks for listening,

Hey everyone, I recently committed to Indiana University and I’m trying to understand what life there is actually like before freshman year starts. I have a bunch of questions so I thought I’d put them all in one post 😭
For context:
- I’m interested in economics/business
- I’m not directly admitted to Kelley - Im in econ college of arts and sciences
- I’m probably trying to internally transfer/switch into Kelley later if possible
- I’m from out of state
Questions:
- Dorms/Social:
- Best freshman dorms socially?
- Is random roommate actually that bad?
- How easy is it to make friends freshman year?
Food:
- Best dining halls?
- Which meal plan is most worth it?
Academics:
- How hard is it realistically to internally transfer into Kelley?
- Are econ/business opportunities still good outside Kelley?
- Did your AP/DE credits transfer well and save you classes?
General:
- Anything you wish you knew before attending IU?
I know this is a lot but I’d really appreciate honest answers/advice from current students or alumni. Thanks!
