PhD Advise

Hi everyone! I’m looking for some insights, especially from those who are currently first-year PhD students. I’m 28 and nearly finished with my Master’s. During my defense, I was asked about my future plans. I mentioned that a PhD isn’t a priority right now, as I want to focus on establishing career stability within the academia where I’m currently employed.

I have a few questions:

  1. Should I start the PhD application process now?

  2. Is there a disadvantage to pursuing a PhD later in life, particularly regarding age?

  3. What is the recommended track for someone teaching Biology with a focus on Ecology?

  4. How will I know if I am ready for the rigor of the PhD education?

Thank you and may the forces of the universe be always in your favor 💯💯
