I’m in California, where they’ve charged ten cents for a grocery bag for a while. A couple months ago they passed a law that all disposable bags have to be paper now instead of plastic. Ok…

So tonight I stopped in and asked for a paper bag at checkout. The cashier told me they’re only for doordash and instacart, otherwise I have to buy their nylon-ish reusable bags at 25 cents each… um, what?

Is this a real policy? I asked for an exception and she gave me a paper bag, but how are you going to attempt to force your customers to buy nylon bags???

Honest question, and please spare the “women do it too” defensiveness… what goes through your head as a guy to think the best way to get matches is to tell us what you want instead of who you are as a person?

The former assumes we all want you to begin with and therefore you have to graciously sort us out… the latter gives information that might get us to actually want you.

But I am genuinely curious as this seems to be a huge pattern.
