Is too distracting just right?

My fangan will be about how distracted as humanity we are when it comes to solving problems. Not distracted by important things like paying taxes, working, eating, sleeping and stuff, I mean purposefully ignoring terrible things that’d going on in the world in favour of watching your favourite show again or playing a game you put more focus in than your work or scrolling on social media.

And when you do acknowledge it, you give a small amount of sympathy and sorrow, not enough to actually cry but dampen your previous mood, give your condolences or share it before moving on, resuming, already forgetting the post or the devastating news.

The characters symbolise different distractions one does to ignore the bigger picture, to not listen, to feed on wasted serotonin and endorphins when you should be helping people in desperate need.

Overtime, the survivors become a little more serious, trying to actually focus for more than a few seconds, to stop thinking about their online personas or following and actually care about their lives that they e become bored with.

Thing is, that may ruin the vibe and mood of the story. It may not be taken seriously as an actually story and the message will be dropped.

Mastermind Reveal: Wait, they died and got replaced by someone else?!

I know this means the mastermind isn’t the mastermind but hear me out.

The traitor helped construct and plan the killing game while the mastermind supplied funding for it. The mastermind dies early, a victim, but the traitor doesn’t want it to end. By allowing the game to end, it means all their work, time, and progress was for nothing.

Think of it like this: an anime is being made, but one of the voice actors suddenly died at the start. Does that mean you cancel the show? No, you mourn, grieve, and give some time to settle before getting a new VA to replace the old one and continue the show.

This is an exact same situation except the traitor is in the role of the mastermind but has no proper motive to do a killing game besides “it’d be a waste.”

Thoughts on this idea?
