27F, Loose transversalis fascia in the inguinal region. What to do?
Hi! I'm a 27F, 52kg, 165cm, non smoker, no medications. I have two bilateral bulges that come out in the inguinal hernia area. They come out occasionally but are not always present, it somehow seems they're more likely to come out during the 2nd part of my cycle. Whenever they come out i can push them back in. I've had them since I was around 13, the bulging didnt bother me and I didn't notice it much up until recently. As of this year January whenever I would experience "bulging episode" I would feel slight discomfort. I suspected this would be inguinal hernias or canal or nuck cysts but I did an ultrasound and MRI which were ordered by my family doctor and they didn't pick up anything.
I recently went to a hernia surgeon instead where he sent me to a different ultrasound specialist who is very experienced in abdominal ultrasounds. He determined that there's no hernia defect or hole in the fascia, but he sees laxity or loose transversalis fascia which would be the cause of the bulging. Surgeon said that currently no surgery is needed if I'm not experiencing pain etc. and to come back if I develop more symptoms.
Is there something I can still do at this stage before I develop a full on hernia since it doesn't seem like there's a full defect yet. What sort of doctor do I need to follow up with? Or should I look into physical therapy?
