Only thing I can find that makes a sound similar to what I was hearing while riding. I assumed this is a floating caliper. Throw some grease on sliding shaft portion?

About 20 min after a ride in 70 degree weather, there's a quarter size puddle under the breather tube.. Looks like frappe. Oil looks fine in tank. 1977 xlh. Didnt get a picture of spot. Video of idle while cold
Alright... I thought I nailed the end play on my tapered bearings, using a dial indicator magnetically mounted to the disk with dial on the axle. Set it up in the vise, with dry bearings, proper top hat washer and shim washers, torque nut to 55 ft lbs, I recorded .005" of play every time. Book states .002-.006".
150 miles later, I feel some vibration. I stick the indicator on while still mounted to the bike and record .010".
Back to the vise. Pull a total of .065" of shims out, and record .002"
Races are perfect and there's no sounds or resistance while spinning when torqued down.
Mount back on the bike with freshly packed bearings and it feels loosey goosey, but the indicator reads within spec.
TLDR; how the hell did it the play increase after greasing bearings and mounting? Did i miss something? Should I get new bearings? I have both FSM and parts catalog and follow them to a T
