Got a speeding ticket during the CHP hiring process — will this DQ me? (First offense)
Hey everyone, looking for some insight from people who’ve been through the CHP hiring process or know how their background investigations work.
I’m currently in the middle of the hiring process for the California Highway Patrol and recently got pulled over and received a speeding ticket. This is my first ticket ever — completely clean record before this. No priors, no accidents, nothing.
I know background investigations are thorough and I plan to be fully transparent about it, but I’m genuinely worried this could hurt or even disqualify my chances. Has anyone dealt with something similar during the CHP hiring process? Did it affect your background investigation or conditional offer?
Any advice or personal experience is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Edit: I’m early in the process and haven’t gotten a BI assigned to me yet.
