For me, it was probably foundations which are not aligned properly. I love a neat factory, but when you start building on different continents and tried to merge them you see that they're not aligned properly. That always caused me grief. I would have liked if there is a grid lock option for foundations. I don't mind different building directions ( if you want to put your minor acrosss your foundation fine by me ) but there should be option to put that foundation exactly like your first foundation block you put down, so their sides will be met when you joined them together.
