Kids clubs

My son is turning ten soon. We live next to a course but he’s never been golfing. I have probably went ten times in twenty years (I can never see where the ball goes once I hit it so I hate using two dozen balls each round but that is a separate post). I want to get better and play more and plan on taking him sometimes. Plus his friends have clubs so they could walk to the course when they want this summer so we were thinking about getting him clubs.

We don’t want to spend a ton because he really doesn’t know how to play (we will also be getting him lessons at the course) and don’t know how much he’ll use them but we also don’t want to just buy a little kids set. We did go to the driving range the other day and he hit it around 50-75 yards with the range’s clubs.

The other issue is his height. He’s current about 5’1 and is projected to be 6’5 when he’s fully grown. We are constantly having to new shoes for him as he outgrows them and don’t want to be in the same boat with golf clubs.

Does anyone have any suggestions for clubs that would make sense for our situation?

Servicing machine and Gas over winter question

I own a Ferris Z3X. I’ve had it for four years. I generally send it to the place I bought it for yearly service but the price keeps creeping up and I’m reading that it might be overkill for my usage. I think it’s around $600 this year which includes pick up and delivery and I have around 90 total hours on the machine over the four years of ownership. That means I’m getting a full service done every 20 or so hours.

On top of that, they have already replaced my blades twice and rebuilt the carburetor. I have a feeling I’m probably being taken but then I also know that expensive machines often require expensive maintenance. Am I paying too much for service? Do I need to get it done yearly with my usage?

The carburetor had to be rebuilt because it sat for a winter with gas in it and the wouldn’t work right the next spring. That was my mistake and I vowed never to do that again. Then I let my neighbor borrow the machine over the fall without thinking about it and just realized he left a half tank of gas in it. Should I try to turn it on or should I try to drain the gas out first?
