Future of off grid Travel Trailers
We have a simple set up and live full time in our 18ft nüCamp T@B 400 which we love. On thing we love is that we can run everything we need off grid since our heat, hot water and fridge can run on propane. We don’t use an ice maker, air fryer, coffee maker, hair dryer or CPap. If we ever want to upgrade to a small TT (maybe a walk around bed in our future), several I’ve noticed only have 2-way, not 3-way, fridges and are wired to use an inverter. My thought was always to run things on 12v when needed.
Are there reasons I’m missing that appliances or systems run more efficiently on electric with an inverter or is the industry trending this way due to market demand for TTs that will do more off grid? Are 3 way fridges becoming obsolete?
FYI… we do run our fridge on battery when driving or turn it off completely for short hauls.
All I’m seeing is needing my future rig to generate more electricity. What am I missing?
