First Episode: Arthur Shelby is dead. Flashbacks an unknown blood disease diagnosed as pneumonia but its heavily implied it was HIV before AIDS was discovered. after he and his brother Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) got involved in narcotics such as heroin, Arthur accidentally injected himself with a syringe previously used by someone else.... (keep this in mind this hypothetical) while on his deathbed Tommy pulls a gun and shoots Arthur unable to witness his brother's humiliating and agonizing destruction. With Tommy's life and reputation in shambles he chooses the only option left: REINCARNATION. we have a whole episode of Tommy on a journey away from Birmingham until he goes on this surreal existential journey to the mountains and pray where he meets Kaulo Chiriklo (Rebecca Ferguson, not related to Zelda or Duke) and her caravan of gypsies Tommy moves in with them and begins rebuilding his life his days as Tommy Shelby are over.
second episode: Time Jump occurs Amidst The Birmingham Blitz in November 1940, Nazi Germany initiates a plot to economically subdue the United Kingdom by introducing copious amounts of counterfeit British currency – manufactured by the inmates of the regime's concentration camps — into the British economy with the assistance of pro-Nazi agents, with the goal of triggering hyperinflation. Concurrently, a Luftwaffe night raid in Birmingham destroys a BSA munitions factory, killing the factory's female workforce. Nazi Sympathizer John Beckett (Tim Roth) is recruited by the Nazis to find a distributor Beckett requests a meeting with Ada Shelby now acting MP and owner of Shelby Ltd. for protection, Beckett meanwhile Encounters Jimmy McCavern and The Billy Boys who return to Birmingham and creepier than ever who agree to help channel the notes in their secret networks as Britain's safety is not a concern to them but good business. McCavern and Beckett become business partners. During this time Tommy Shelby learns he has cancer his doctor tracing it back to his exposure from mustard gas in the trenches (revealed in flashbacks) Tommy begins seeing Grace (Annabelle Wallis) and Ruby in his visions.
Third Episode: Ada Shelby (Sophie Rundle) refuses to offer protection to Beckett as it becomes evident his business deal involves committing treason. During the meeting, Tommy's son Duke (Barry Keoghan) who runs the Peaky Blinders in his father's absence expressed interest in the deal getting the attention of Beckett who thanks Ada and Duke for granting him an audience and leaves. After the meeting, Ada angrily castigates his nephew for letting an outsider know what he was thinking. Unbeknownst to Ada and Duke, Beckett decides to have Ada killed believing that by making the younger and volatile Duke the acting head of Shelby Ltd he can easily force his hand as he has the support of Jimmy McCavern and the Billy Boys who outnumber the Peaky Blinders. Ada Shelby, is gunned down by two assailants and Duke is captured and forced to make a deal now he has no Family to protect or guide him. Tommy sees Ada in the mountains and realizes what has happened.
Episode Four: Kaulo offers to go with Tommy along with Tommy's longtime allies Johnny Dogs, and Uncle Charlie they carry out a heist and break into Tommy's old armory of old weapons but only make out with a mini-gun, before they can be detected by The Billy Boys now overrunning Peaky Territories, Kaulo steals a Rolls Royce from a garage insisting there going to need it. Tommy, Johnny, Charlie and Kaulo go on a long road back to Birmingham they spend most of their time helping Tommy do repairs on the Rolls Royce; Kaulo is inducted into The Peaky Blinders by Tommy for clever theft of the Rolls. While Tommy and Kaulo watch Air Raids light up the Night Sky. Duke initiates an escape from Beckett one night but is caught and is forced to watch as McCavern executes his Wife. Duke has a meltdown as Beckett reminds Duke he still has a baby Son of his own who is still alive. Duke the chosen successor has been broken.
Episode Five: Tommy, has now reassumed his leadership of the Peaky Blinders with Charlie, Johnny and Kaulo as his final gang configuration. He learns of the counterfeit plot and that Beckett has Duke working for him, Kaulo and Tommy test out a new mechanical installation Kaulo retrofitted on the Rolls Royce, Tommy tells Kaulo he is satisfied. Tommy first visits the mortuary where Ada's body is, deducing that Beckett would be there to kill him as well. Instead Tommy encounters an angry an unhinged Duke who blames Tommy for causing him to lose his family. Duke beats up Tommy and angry scuffle ensues but Tommy gains the upper hand and disarms Duke's gun after he attempts to shoot Tommy and Tommy pistol whips Duke and Duke strangles Tommy near to death before anger turns to grief again. After getting their anger off their system Duke confesses Beckett sent him to Kill Him as his last chance to prove his loyalty to the Nazis and ensure the safety of his own son. Tommy agrees to help rescue Duke's son. Just then the Billy Boys raid the mortuary and Tommy and Duke shoot them out together with help from Charlie until Johnny Dogs pulls up and drives them away leaving behind a burned body with Tommy's signature cap which Duke brings to Beckett satisfying him and the McCaverns. Unbeknownst to them Tommy, Kaulo, Charlie and Johnny Dogs raid the hideout where McCavern has Duke's son hostage before the Billy Boys can kill him. Although they manage to shootout all the Billy Boys and rescue Duke's baby as they are leaving one of the Billy Boys manages to get up and shoot Charlie killing him. Meanwhile Duke kills his captors with Tommy's bladed cap and escapes.
Final Episode:
Funeral for Charlie Strong. Tommy seeing no other way to diffuse the situation as His Peaky Blinders are basically a skeleton crew against Beckett, McCavern and the Billy Boys, Tommy decides to a truce. Tommy and Duke meets with Beckett and McCavern to negotiate claiming he has connections to distribute the money to the British Federal Reserve banks.
Tommy bids farewell to Johnny Dogs and Kaulo once the Rolls Royce has been re-fixed then goes. Tommy and Duke rides the Rolls Royce and arrive at the compound where Beckett, McCavern and the Billy Boys gather. Tommy begins to negotiate a bargain but McCavern shuts him up saying he made up his mind after their meeting. The Billy Boys pull up their guns but Beckett yells at them to hold fire. Beckett turns to Jimmy telling he has also changed his mind... Beckett wants to be the one to kill Thomas Shelby the famous Gypsy gangster himself. McCavern reluctantly agrees as Beckett turns to Tommy grinning as he pulls a pistol with his nemesis Tommy within his sight But Tommy then tackles Duke to the ground confusing Beckett. its revealed Tommy had Kaulo and the Old Guard retrofit a minigun retrieved from the trenches into the Rolls Royce intended for their enemies. Tommy presses a trigger in his Jacket once he has Duke pinned on the ground as the Mini Gun shreds and kills everyone except Duke, McCavern & Beckett however Tommy is hit in the chest by a stray shot from the Minigun in the process and is fatally wounded but manages to get up and watches as Jimmy McCavern is ultimately strangled to death by Duke avenging Ada and his wife. Tommy turns and noticed an injured Beckett trying to escape and corners him before Beckett could retrieve his gun to shoot Tommy, Beckett begs saying he was only doing business before Tommy executes him abruptly with Beckett's own gun. Tommy passes the gun to Duke. A grievously wounded Tommy tells Duke to kill him. Duke says if Tommy wants to die he should do it himself then drops the gun and leaves. Tommy follows Duke outside where both father and son exchange a farewell nod before Duke flees as Tommy walks back into the hangar and sets the forged notes with a lighter as Birmingham police surround the Hanger where he is found lying on a pile of forged notes after losing a significant amount of blood. Tommy dies from blood loss with a slight smile on his face. Police Officers remain gather around Tommy's Lifeless body and the burning notes all over the floor during the credits roll.
