Iran is 'escalating' by using it's air defenses against American fighter jets bombing it's country
If Iran is victorious in this war, there maybe be more civil liberty in Iran, not less.
Some are fearmongering about how if the Islamic Republic wins, there will be severe crackdowns but this will likely not be the case.
The government of Iran has not restricted personal liberties purely because of ideological reasons but moreso because of concerns over threats to the state. This is a universal constant and is not unique to Iran. Any state that feels it is threatened, will behave more harshly/vigilantly to preserve order. You can even see this pattern unfolding in the west today. As war and uncertainty increases, westesrn govts erode civil liberties.
One prediction is that the Iranian govt would be more willing to offer more civil liberty to it's people if it can successfully reduce the foreign military presence around Iran. After the Iran-Iraq war, Iran's govt allowed for some leniency and reform that it wasn't willing to show in the early years of the revolution. So there is a historical precedent for this.
