Do you subscribe to the theory “If by year 3 you haven’t been picked up by a record label, it’s not going to happen”?

Considering all the music that is released every year, by major artists and indie artists, 3 years is actually a long time constantly releasing music on your own, local shows, regional shows etc. If you’ve been working your ass off, by year 3, you’ve released your “best stuff” to date and if they haven’t noticed you, at that point they may never. It’s possible, yes, however, statistically, probably not.

What’s your definition of success within music? For yourself.

Examples, maybe 10K monthly listeners is successful for you. Or being an award nominated artist. Or possibly landing as one of the opening acts for a major artist’s national tour. Whatever it may be. What’s yours?

Reading the Seattle Times, and an article says “$60K comes with up to 7 roommates”. Why is it like this up here?

This would be unheard of back home in Mississippi. I moved here for work two years ago, and I can’t understand why the COL has to be this overpriced. $60k back home is a great living with a 3 bed/2 bath rental home with a huge backyard, or buy one outright. I enjoy it here, but longer term I’ll be back in the Deep South where living comfortably doesn’t cost ridiculous amounts. I genuinely feel bad for those that are here to stay, they deserve better than this.

I’m walking out of FM and there’s a dude running out with two huge backpacks of ice cream. They chased him, he dropped the sacks and ran off. The security person starts laughing saying “yeah fuck he had like 20 lbs of ice cream!”

And then I get to my car, two seemingly unhoused dudes walk by and their conversation went exactly like this

“Dude well I had already smoked all of my dope, and she was mad at me, because I smoked MY dope before she came, MY dope, can you believe it?”

“Yeah she’s a bitch bro”

“MY dope man, why was she so mad? How could she do that to me, it was MY dope, I smoked all of MY dope!”

Lovely afternoon…

When gas in the United States hits a national average of $8 per gallon for regular. And you personally might be upset, but there could be 40 million Americans that are financially stable enough, versus another 100 million that aren’t. You’ll never see national outrage, and you’ll never see democrats and republicans protesting in the streets for the same cause. The vast majority of Americans will pay even $10 per gallon, and continue their day, because our lives are too comfortable to truly fight the machines.

The reality is, whether it’s $7 a gallon, $3 a gallon or $10 a gallon, nationally. The vast majority of Americans will just pay it, can you even debate that? Because this country is extremely large, so many people are in different financial positions, that there will never be an uprising or revolt. Not a chance in hell you’ll see liberals and conservatives, coming together for the same cause, not in this day and age.
