HP Instant Ink terrible & lies about sustainability
A forewarning for anyone starting the HP instant ink subscription; when your trial ends, you need to remove the instant ink cartridges and buy your own ones, otherwise they will charge you every month you continue to use the original subscription cartridges (whether free trial or paid). I had assumed that I could continue to use what ink I had left, but HP are obviously unhappy with that and want me to get brand new cartridges despite these ones being half full. Even more so - you need to organise getting pre-paid envelopes which is unsurprisingly difficult to find on their website.
I don't mind that having to buy my own cartridges. I think it's fair to expect to buy cartridges you use rather than use the freebies on the trial, but it is cheeky how it is very much hidden during the initial purchase.
Also, I have an issue with a company that shouts about sustainability, but when it comes to bottom line $$$, they don't care. I rung customer service up to question how can they claim sustainability success, when they are happy to waste ink as part of this trial, as well as the environment toll of sending me the pre-paid envelopes and me sending the ink bank to them.
Customer service was incredibly rude. They must get questions like this immediately as went straight to a script and tried to cut the call off early. The printer (HP Envy) has been good to me over the past 6 months, but this whole experience has genuinely made me regret buying from HP.
