Help creating a "Battle Box"

Hey there,

I bought my six starter decks two years ago and haven’t had a chance to play them (the birth of my son). Now that the game is being discontinued, I want to preserve a kitchen-table “Battle Box,” so I need your help. The product is in English, but I’m based in Germany.

Battle Box:

  • Magnetic cardboard box with space for 6–8 deck boxes, some tokens, and playmats
  • The feel should be board game–esque, with some nice accessories

Decks:

  • Fun to play (starter decks from other games can feel slow and boring)
  • Balanced against each other, not necessarily the highest-impact decks

Plan (so far — 4-player kitchen-table tournaments are the goal):

  • Build upon the six starters and upgrade them with cards from booster displays, or (if possible) buy playsets to improve the decks
  • 2 XXL playmats
  • 2 premium adventure trackers
  • 2 token sets
  • Sleeves specific to each deck
  • Foil hero cards (found some cheap ones on German eBay)

Questions:

  • Do later sets drastically change or improve the gameplay, and should I include them?
  • How would you upgrade the starter decks within the limits of the first set?
  • Given the distribution model, is it realistic to get most cards/playsets out of two booster displays, or will duplicates be an issue?
  • Hero tokens look nice, but I’d only use one of each set — any alternatives?
  • Are there more than 18 heroes? Maybe I should build three Battle Boxes :)

Thank you for your help :)

Es wird viel auf r/library gepostet, auch immer mal wieder was auf Deutsch. Wollen wir diesen Sub-Wiederbeleben und uns über alles Mögliche austauschen?
