Distance feeder fishing/casting

So this is more of a specialised question. I've been really getting into feeder fishing, but what I'm struggling slightly with snapping the top eye off my 2oz tip in 2 successive trips. Fishing 8lb braid to a 10lb shock leader on a Preston horizon feeder. I should point out I only have this issue fishing cage feeder. Method is not a concern (likely because the hooklink is in the groundbait/feeder)

I've been trying to improve my casting technique, watching the pro's on YT. Andy May, Mick Vials, Steve Ringer, Lee Kerry etc, and I just can't understand how they bring the feeder, hooklink etc from in front of them to behind, to an amazingly accurate cast, clobbering the clip without causing the same issue.

I wonder if I'm missing something obvious. I've gone back to tilting the rod slightly to get the feeder behind, then straightening up, however I've found this impacts accuracy.

Any specialised feeder anglers out there with an answer?
