I had to decline

I was accepted, like what, a month ago? I was genuinely so happy. That night, I stayed up a while learning more about the engineering department and the uni as a whole. So amazing. A few days later, I got my financial aid package, 66k offered per YEAR. It was going to be cheaper than my state school.

When I went to Jumbo Days, even better. Five minutes after arriving, the AO who read my application RECOGNIZED me and said hello. I thought I hated Boston cuz of the cold, but once I gave the city a chance, wow, although it was pretty damn cold at 9. Everyone was so nice, students, faculty, and even talked with the dean of admissions, who knew my high school!

I know it was my place. I was even given the stern scholar engineering honor. I connected with admitted students whom I thought I would get to know and have chats with 50 yrs from now.

But no, after my financial aid appeals for Tufts and my state school came back, the choice was out of my hands. Tufts was still 35k a year, and my state school became practically debt-free.

I'm very grateful to be a part of my state's T20 engineering program, but I don't think I'm ever gonna forget Tufts bro. What hurt the most was declining my offer, which is what made me write this. Seeing my portal of lively students, faculty to connect with, and even the Stern honor, just go blank hurt so bad.

Anyways, tell me the WORST things about Tufts to help me out, I'm actually so sad

Can I “choose” my dorm by doing this

Incoming freshmen, one of my friends was accepted to FIRE and I am seeing that FIRE students are housed in la plata, which seems like a great dorm in a good location. If he and I were to indicate interest to room together, would we both be in la plata since that’s where his program is?

where to play bbal - incoming student

incoming student hoping to play bball in free time as a engineer (is even that realistic lol)

The eppley courts seem nice, but I'm wondering if they get crowded fast? Also I see that theres badminton courts next to the gym equipment, is that space also used for bbal? Is the armory crowded? Anywhere else to play?

Thanks!

Incoming Freshmen, opinions on Easton Hall?

I was accepted into a engineering LLP that is in Easton. IK Easton is a pretty ok dorm as it has AC and is close to the Y, Eppely, and oh yeah, the engineering buildings.

But, I did fill out the housing form the day I was accepted (which means I have a better chance at good housing according to UMD) so I was wondering if you guy's think I should settle for Easton or risk it for the biscuit and see what dorm I get.

Also plz lmk if I'm wrong and Easton is one of the better freshmen dorms, thanks!

How hard is it to keep a good GPA first year engineering

Engineering in general, but specifics on CompE/EE would be nice too, thanks!

edit - I mean like 3.8+
