Is this normal or should I exchange?
Hey all,
Bought a brand new aeron from HM website and found that the polished aluminum base had some dings on it. After doing some research some say that it’s damage caused by mishandling with delivery, while others claim that cast aluminum will have these defects either by inclusion (foreign object in the die cast) or gas porosity (air bubbles). I’m not really sure which category does my chair fall into and if this warrants a replacement or a repair. I know there is an argument out there that frames these as industrial products sold in bulk to companies that we shouldn’t treat it like luxury items despite the price tag, and that with its intended use you will scratch/chip it anyways. However, the same argument can be said about cars that since you’ll damage it anyways (scratch or dings), you might as well shrug it off despite the fact that these are being sold as retailer products as well. Well, I care enough to not be able to overlook this. Otherwise I wouldn’t be here. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
