info for 26/27 students!! (from a soon to be 2nd year)
okay so i’ve seen a bunch of questions on here especially since the portal for accom is now open for you guys + SFE applications are beginning to get processed!
i went through kaas first year so ill let you know everything i did to secure accom etc as i had many of the same anxieties ive seen expressed on here :-)
after sending in my SFE application i was super worried about how quickly i would get it, as i also needed to apply for kaas but it only took 1 week! the same day i got that back i took a screenshot of my ‘Letter of Entitlement’ and emailed it to kings for kaas processing.
when you do this make sure you screenshot all pages even the blank one at the end! make sure it’s in the right format when you email it!! i think mine was in JPEG (you can change this on the files app)
I sent that off on a friday and got it back on the monday after - did not take 4 weeks as they said ! (very relieving as i was super anxious about kaas)
oh btw the essay thing for kaas is super simple and doesn’t really matter - it is allocated on how quickly you get it done not how convincing it is. (also like if you qualify financially lols).
once you have all that sorted for me, they gave me a weeks access onto the portal. meaning that i had 7 days of continuous log in into the portal so i could browse which accoms i wanted - not sure if this is the same for 2026!!
this was extremely stressful and i definitely became compulsive over logging in and checking for new updates. i would literally log in between revising a level flashcards it was awful. i think after day 4/5 i realised the accom i wanted was all taken up so i chose gdsa on a whim (it was the only one for the last 3 days that was an en-suite).
it wasn’t really my top choice but i wanted a private bathroom lols. luckily last year (and i assume this year) they allowed you to change your accom once after your first booking - so this gives more time to choose your absolute one if that makes sense???
luckily the accom i wanted refreshed right in front of my eyes lol (maybe compulsively checking between flashcards works) and i managed to book it!!!
very stressful but i just thought id share bcz it as quite literally the most panic inducing process ever!
