Do you think this is an accurate poll, and do you agree with its findings? If so, I'm reminded again that what and who a nation sees as its best assets aren't universally agreed elsewhere.

May 19, 1976: Tonight's "Bicentennial Minute" features Broadway composer Jule Styne

As it had on every other evening since July 4, 1974, CBS broadcast its nightly one-minute-long (natch) episode of "Bicentennial Minutes" in primetime. May 19's episode happened to feature British-born songwriter and composer Jule Styne as the narrator, describing an event in the American Revolution that occurred exactly 200 years before, on May 19, 1776. That episode is not available, but here's May 7's "Bicentennial Minute," featuring director Otto Preminger: https://youtu.be/u1HwX6TdHbk

May 19, 1976. Paul McCartney performs in Atlanta on his extremely successful "Wings Over America" tour

By the end of the month, he would be on the cover of Time magazine. On the night of May 19th, Atlantans were happily paying $9.50 to see Paul and Wings in concert as part of the band's multi-city, blockbuster tour. This tour marked the first time in a decade that Paul had performed live on tour in North America. Of course the last time, in 1966, he had still been a Beatle.

The establishing shot for Archie Bunker's Place in the "ABP"opening was in L.A.

2700 Vermont Avenue, not far from USC, to be precise.

The generic establishing shots in the "ABP" sequence, until the very end of the montage, were clearly filmed in NYC. But when the camera pans to the ABP bar exterior, it's the building above. Probably because it was a lot easier for the L.A. crew to "dress" a local building in ABP signage for a day than all flying to New York and doing it there.

You can see how the montage switches over just before the "Truck Lettering" signage (itself possibly painted for the shoot, to make it more generic), with that "Truck Lettering" building's address number, 2678, visible.

The anti-Americanism on GG is getting out of control

Do people honestly think because I have a US flag next to my GG handle that I condone or have any control over the actions to the current US government? Let's keep this game light, not a cesspool of personal attacks around nationality.

Has the King surprised you with how well he is performing his rôle and duty, or did you already believe, before his reign, that he would be an excellent King?

Why do some people insist on using Google Docs?

I just do not understand why people want to share files this way, and I'm looking for genuine answers on why it appeals to people.

In my job, I send people Word files and ask for edits. All I want them to do is make edits to the file, using Track Changes, and send it back to me.

A small (thankfully) minority of people insist on using Google Docs to get the file back to me. WHY? Why would it be an advantage to you or me to run the file through a third-party service that makes it more cumbersome to receive and download. Just send the freaking file back to me in an email.

Help me understand, please!

A photo that kind of exemplifies a certain kind of Northern California cool, or cosmopolitanism, of the early 1970s: a British car, with the Northpoint shopping center in the background, with the Akron and Mayfair stores, where you could buy then-trendy apartment accouterments and foodstuffs.
