[OC] The Crested Olicorn. A take on the unicorn, as a massive rodent!

The Crested Olicorn( Monodon Olicornis) is a giant rodent that lives deep in mountainous regions among rocky terrain and steep surfaces.

Its head decorated by a unique single tusk, caused by fused upper incisors, that make it resemble a horn. Its lower lip has become elongated and reiforced by rubbery pads which it uses like a trunk to grasp the low hard vegetation that grows in the hihg altitudes of its habitat. Its 3 toed feet have grasping rubbery fingers and pads, that allow the animal to grip the rocky and steep surfaces and traverse them with ease.

It is a rare and majestic creature that has captured the imagination of the people of the regions it inhabits, attributing to it magical and healing powers.

[OC]Feathered Junglewyrm, a basal Dragon

The Feathered Junglewyrm (Silvacrobates Quetzacoatli) is a small arboreal dragon that hunts insects amongst the dense forests and jungles. The particular niche it fills, in combination with its simple body plan indicates to scholars that is must be a basal species amongst the dragon lineage, as it has retained the small flying insectivore niche theorized to have been the origin of the family Pterorhachidae(meaning back-wing) or commonly called Dragons, that have conquered the skies of this world.

A crest of long scales decorating the head and a split ribbon-like tail take part in elaborate courting rituals. Rounded wings with sharp edges allow this small dragon to maneuver the dense forests with ease while it chases its prey.

The Drifting Maroonback (Vivinsula Caleocordis) is a sight to behold, a fully aquatic drake of massive proportions with a strange anatomy unlike any of their kin, thought to be one of the most ancient lineages among the family Pyrotrachelidae.

(Pyrotrachelidae, meaning fire-necks, commonly called Drakes are a family of fire breathing, herbivorous, megafaunal reptiles that use this weapon as defense.)

A unique adaptation to the cold, their emberheart, the organ responsible for fire breath, is split into two different parts. Two of the chambers have stayed close to the main body, where they are constantly at work igniting digestive gases to heat the animal’s blood. This helps the animals keep their temperature high and survive the cold waters of the north. One chamber is close to the mouth, where it still plays the same defensive role as it does to other species of Drakes, but with reduced effectiveness. In addition, thick layers of fat cover its body to reduce heat loss.

However as their internal gas chamber makes them extremely buoyant, they use their long necks to graze on the tops of kelp, and they are mostly unable to dive underwater, always floating close to the surface like small living islands.
