Work permit expiring soon, will this affect my offer?
Hi all,
I got a 1-year temp offer from RBC. During the background check, they asked when my work permit expires. I wrote it’s in 5 months and that I’ll be applying for an extension.
I followed up with HR to see if everything is completed on their end, and they said the background check is still in process. So I’m not even sure if they’ve fully reviewed my work permit situation yet, since no one has asked any follow-up questions.
My start date is in 2 weeks, which means I’d have to resign from my current job soon.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Could having only 5 months left on a work permit be an issue? Since it’s a contract role, I thought it might be okay,but it is a 1-year contract.
I’d really appreciate it if anyone who’s been through something similar could share what happened.
