Are Virals still somewhat human like? Are they similar to people who have rabbies and have gone past the edge,or are they just corrupted remains of people controled by the parasite?(Blight)

Can they feel pain and anger? Like if you were the reason they got killed,could they be more or less aggresive to you depending on that?

And the last question...If they are still somewhat human,could you theoretically befriend them or something? I know that they are something like souls stuck within their own body,so could you realisticly help them break free without neccesarily killing them?

For those who are wondering it's sadly edited,though it would be AMAZING if it was an actuall thing,since having 14 sappers who know what they are doing would instantly stop the blight if gun wielding classes don't suck.

I've found this information out just right now,by finding a video of some guy who said "Koofy is back",his video was posted 5 hours ago as I'm currently writing.
