Can readers be avoided?
I just went to my eye doc. He's great, other than he is on the older side and pretty set in his preferences. it's never been an issue until this exam. He does not recommend presbyopia drops and doesn't think that having to finally use readers is a big deal. I've been wearing contact lenses for almost 30 years to avoid wearing glasses of any sort.
I noticed that I have to hold my cell-phone out at arms length. for this exam- he said to just get readers if I need them. I didn't think, at the time, that as my new prescription is worse- that now "arms-length" is not enough to still view my phone. I don't want to have readers on over my glasses for most of the time ! My doc. said my prescription is likely too bad to contemplate monovision contacts. Is that true?
OD: 8.6/-4.00/-.75 X 90
OS: 8.6/-4.25*-1.25 X 90
My eyes are otherwise healthy- no signs at all of cataracts, or glaucoma, etc. I'm so upset that I wasn't thinking to when I filled the new script for contacts that I'd no longer be able to really look at my phone easily. I almost wish I had kept my old presecription (the power was -3.75 previous to this exam) where I could still easily look a my laptop and phone while having my contacts on.
do I have non-glasses alternatives for my presbyopia?
