indecisive about ct size

my ring finger is a size 2.5 so super tiny lol

i had originally went into the jewelers thinking i wanted a 1.5ct oval, and then tried on a 2ct and thought i was happier with that. now i’m going back and fourth thinking maybe the 2ct looks too big on my finger? i definitely want a flashy ring but i don’t want it to look overly ridiculous on me. the first picture is the 1.5ct and the second picture with a ring on my finger is the 2ct. i wont be getting a gold wedding band like in the picture though so the ring would sit up a bit higher on my finger. my partner is having my ring custom made so she’s just waiting on me to make up my mind on the ct size so she can give the jeweler the go ahead to start it😅

First Anniversary Upgrade Ring

We celebrated our first wedding anniversary yesterday!

Apparently when we got engaged he thought the ring he got me wasn’t good enough to what I deserved (traditional South Asian engagement ceremony, where parents pick a date and make an event out of it), so for our first anniversary he designed a new ring and got it made for me.

A precious ring, the only one in the world for me ❤️ and I couldn’t be happier 🥺🥺

I LOVE my eternity band but need some advice...

A couple months ago my husband and I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary. The jeweller that made our engagement and wedding rings is now retired so we had our eternity band made with another jeweller. We worked with a designer to come up with our dream ring - a half/semi bezel set band of alternating emerald cut and brilliant cut lab grown diamonds to a total ct weight of approx 0.9ct set in 18ct white gold, ring size S/9.25. (Engagement ring is 0.85ct emerald cut natural diamond).

We finally picked her up today and we LOVE! The style is so unique and stunning and it looks so well made and good quality! I did so much research online and couldn't find anything like it so it really is an original design which makes me love it even more... BUT it doesn't sit nicely with my other rings... it doesn't sit flush and the diamonds are set much higher than we expected making it look out of place... I've attached a picture of a similar ring (in yellow gold) that we based the design on but changed the milgrain bezel setting to half/semi bezel... at the time the designer used the measurements of that ring (width and height) when we looked at the CAD i mentioned it looked a little chunky but the designer reassured us it just looked that way because it was blown up so big and up close. Again on pick up I raised it too and she said it was because of the half bezel setting... we don't really want to have it altered because I assume they would have to completely start again... so I'm thinking of having my other rings remodeled to be thicker/higher so they look more like a set? I would really like to wear them together not on the other hand. Would love opinions/thoughts please!

Has anyone have their scrap gold melted to make a ring?

Where do you have this done and is it cheaper to go this route? I have a lot of different gold pieces I can use for this project and trying to see if this would be a cost effective route. TIA!

I would like 3ct total CT Emerald Cut earrings in 14kt gold. Any recommendations? Should I go Lab or Mosinatte? My budget is 1k or less. I received an expensive CZ as a gift, which were about $500 and seem not to shine.

Crack open the champagne

I got a promotion in January and a huge title change. I’ve had my eye on asscher earrings for a really long time and I thought that would be my congratulations gift to myself, but when I was perusing pink diamonds, I came across a 2ct light champagne princess cut for $330 DOLLARS! What?! I thought…promotion…champagne…I bought it. I have no idea what I’m going to do with it yet. I just noticed it’s going for $1100-3700 on other more expensive sites. The other 2ct champagne princess cuts are going for $800-1500 on this site alone. I think there was a mistake and I’m fully expecting my sale will be canceled. I found it under pink diamonds and I think it was mistakenly there because it’s a brown pink (not pink at all, but a light champagne slightly blush hue). Cross your fingers for me! This is one of the ideas I made with AI.

My ROTTEN UGLY Lab diamond, not kidding, my first return. How do I avoid windows ?

I have many lab diamonds , starting buying them in 2022 when prices really came down and recently bragged that I've never returned one. Then this wretched thing showed up yesterday. I loved it online, I love warm colors, the more color the better and this is a J. I love radiants and this is a kind of uncommon 1:25 ratio, my others are longer. But there is no way to turn it and not get a window that shows right through it. You can see it in these pictures and I've already got the return label and packed it up.

My question is, I would still love a shorter radiant. I have long ones, I have a square one, and I was looking forward to this ratio. The table is 60% and the depth is 64.2%. I know windows can appear with shallow cuts. I have a natural Tanzanite that is a beautiful lavender color but it also has a window that bothers me so much I'll never have it set.

If I continue to pursue a ratio close to this 1:25, any advice ?

Sparkles in the school pickup line ✨

She’s a bit dirty so not ideal but I’m always mesmerized by how it performs in all different kinds of light, and my phone can never quite do it justice. That’s all. Happy Friday, babes. 🫶🏻

Goldsmith help for a lab diamond

Spouse and I have been talking about an upgrade ring for our anniversary. I have my eyes on two cuts of stones but before I can really commit I'm having the wooorst time trying to find someone who will re-use my own gold. I have a few pieces of gold jewelry that I desperately want melted down and repurposed for the ring (and maybe another small band - reusing the stones from some of these pieces).

The local place I was recommended a few years ago had gone downhill and changed ownership. Have any of you used a jeweler/goldsmith in the US who repurposes old jewelry without doing it in bulk for multiple clients?

Also, any price ranges you know of to do something like this?

Stone check Emerald cut

Is this a good stone?

Is windowing acceptable?

Thanks for your advice.

How much are you guys paying to set your loose diamond (gold ring)

Bought a 3ct elongated cushion loose lab diamond online thanks to this fine community for <$2k USD when boutiques in NYC had the same exact lab diamond priced at $5-6k (even Aurelinne had it at $3k).

Now I am planning on getting it set in a 14k gold band with 4 platinum prongs, and a hidden halo and a place in NYC gave me the price of $2200 (did not expect to spend more on the gold than the diamond itself). Anyone know where to get ballpark estimates on if this is a good/bad deal? The guy also mentioned the diamonds in the hidden halo are real and not lab so I’m interested if that is what be causing the price to be a bit higher as well or if this is a good ball park price range

Which rep do you recommend? Starsgem or Provence?

Would love to hear who you made your custom order through and if you recommend them? ☺️

Experience with newer lab diamond vendors?

Has anyone here come across RL Signature Diamonds?

I’m looking at a warm-toned cushion (around 4 ct, J color) and got quoted in the low $700s for an IGI stone. I’ve seen the same cert listed elsewhere a bit higher, so I’m assuming it’s just differences in markup across vendors.

RL seems newer though, which is what’s making me hesitate.

For those who’ve purchased from smaller vendors, is there anything specific you’d watch for beyond the cert/video? Worth trying, or better to stick with a more established seller for something like this?

Is this a good deal for lab diamond earrings from luvansh?

This will be my first ever diamond earrings. I was wondering if this a good price for 0.75 studs? And the clarity?

Custom Eternity Band with my own Diamond

I have my mother’s ring and want to use the diamond in a new custom eternity band with colored diamonds to represent our birthstones potentially. Who have you used and any eternity ring pics? I’m in Tucson.
