This is one of the most important opening scenes in my game. I wanted to show the exact moment an ordinary city is swallowed by yokai, Japanese monsters, before the horde combat begins.

The goal wasn’t just to make it look dark. I wanted it to feel like normal life is being erased, and that this is the moment the tragedy begins.

Since the game later becomes about cutting through massive monster hordes, this scene is meant to be the emotional starting point. Would this kind of intro hook you in?

Working on the opening scene for my game’s OP movie — showing how the city was overrun by Japanese monsters

In the teaser and demo footage for my game, I hadn’t really shown how the yokai horde first appeared or why the heroine was attacked in the first place, so I’m working on that opening scene now in After Effects.

For this part, I’m not focusing on showing each creature clearly. Instead, I’m trying to make the city feel like it’s being swallowed by a dark, spreading aura. I wanted it to feel less like “monsters suddenly appeared” and more like something evil was invading the whole place at once.

I’m aiming for a stronger sense of dread and a clearer starting point for the story. Does this approach read well from the still image?

Made a Limit Break unlock effect in Unity — dark power is drawn into the heroine’s eye

This is a special unlock effect I made in Unity for the Limit Break skills in my game. I wanted the moment to feel like a sealed curse breaking open, with dark power flowing into the heroine’s eye. The idea was to make it feel less like a normal upgrade and more like something dangerous. Would this read clearly to you in gameplay?

I updated the demo for my Japanese dark fantasy survivor-like with Limit Break skills and clearer combat

Oiran Survival is a Japanese dark fantasy survivor-like about fighting through yokai hordes as a heroine driven by revenge.
