The ultimate camera

Most people probably know that the Artemis II crew mainly used the Nikon D5. Of course, part of that comes from Nikon’s long partnership with NASA and the D5 already having proven spaceflight heritage.

But if we ignore those factors for a moment, do you think modern cameras in general could perform just as well in space now? Or do you think there’s still something special about Nikon’s durability and engineering philosophy as a camera focused company, things like vibration resistance, reliability, toughness, and overall robustness, that makes cameras like the D5 particularly suited for extreme environments like space?

Genuinely curious what people think.

36M Japanese back in Japan after 10+ years abroad, coffee or dessert

Hey everyone,

I’m a 36 year old Japanese guy originally from Osaka, recently back in Tokyo after spending over a decade in Australia.

I’m pretty easygoing and chatty Osaka style 😄 and still getting used to being back here.

I thought it would be nice to meet someone new and enjoy a relaxed coffee or dessert together. No pressure, just good conversation.

I have plenty of stories from living overseas and I enjoy hearing about other people’s experiences too. I also know some nice spots around Tokyo.

Happy to exchange photos beforehand so we both feel comfortable 🙂

If you’re in Tokyo or nearby and feel like a casual hang, feel free to message me.

Hello ladies and gents,

I recently bought a D4 in very good condition with around 35,000 shutter count.

I’m just a camera enthusiast and don’t do anything professionally, but over the years I’ve owned a D3100, D7100, D7200, D500, A6400, ZV-E10, and X-T1.

I gave my D3100 and D7100 to my sister years ago, and she recently gave them back to me. That somehow made me interested in getting back into DSLRs again.

Also, as many of you probably know, the Artemis II crew used the D5, and that reminded me how much I’ve always loved Nikon DSLRs.

So now here I am with a D4 in 2026.

Who else is still using one? How much do you love yours?
