Is Lance getting too fat?

I tried looking at the illustrations on Google but none of them match Lance. But since he's starting to flop and stretch on his belly now, I think it would be easier to tell? Here's the best photo I've gotten of him. I noticed this giant circle in his mid section and I'm wondering if he's supposed to look like that or if that's a sign of obesity

Lance ASMR (+ donations open!!)

(I received permission post a donation post by mods. I can't put the screenshot in for some reason. I'll send it in the comments just in case)

As you can see from the video, it's day 4 of having Lance and he's eating from my hand already!! I was a little nervous about doing this seeing as I'm very ticklish and out of all the animal petting zoos I've been to in my entire life, never once have I had a creature eat from my hand.

Originally, I was supposed to clean his cage. But, the moment Lance heard me moving the pellets bag, he rushed at me and got in the way. So I tried to lure him away with food, only for him to yank the pellet straight out of my fingers. So I decided why not try this hand feeding thing out? Now we have Lance asmr.

But anyway.

Donations!! I finally got perm from the mods. Unfortunately, I can't set a gofundme seeing as I don't live in the supported countries and no one I know lives there either. I also can't seem to set a proper amazon wishlist.

For privacy purposes, I'll need people willing to help, to dm me. And due to country related limitations, I'm only able to take funds from:

  1. Indonesia

  2. Thailand

  3. Singapore

  4. Cambodia

and of course,

  1. Malaysia.

If you know someone who might be able to donate, please do tell! I'll take as many funds until I reach the RM 500 goal. The money will be used to buy Lance's known necessities. Like chew toys, more hay, more pellets, training mats, X-pen, etc.

I don't know how much Lance's vet visit will be. So I won't name the price for it for now. Once i do know, I'll update as soon as possible.

Thank you so much for the support these past few days! I cannot stress how important the support from this very brief journey has been. Who could've known what happened to Lance if I hadn't gotten on reddit for advice?

Don't think I haven't forgotten though..

WHAT ABOUT REHOMING?!??!???

Okay so the fb group I'm in accepted me as a member but haven't approved of the post. Its either they missed my posting request, they don't care or it breaks their group rules (which I don't know anything about) It's been a few days of waiting now and I'm losing confidence on them ever accepting the post.

If I am unable to plan a rehome, there's no where else I can run to. The animal rehab, no-kill groups in my area (HOPE and SPCA) only specialise in stray cats and dogs. As far as I know, SPCA only take very injured and ill animals. Both orgs are NGOs and both specialise in common pets. Not exotic ones like bunnies. Which means there's a very high chance that they'll neglect Lance if I give him over to them.

Someone contacted me earlier about taking Lance. I told them I'm able to do meetings in specific sabahan areas. However, they haven't responded whatsoever. I don't have any second plans if that fb group plan fails. In other words, I'll be forced to keep Lance and possibly be heavily reliant on overseas donations.

I still hate this situation as much as everyone else does. And I wish things were more simpler. I never thought the entire thing could be THIS messy and I feel ridiculous knowing that there's probably stuff out there that I could've done to improve stuff even by a little bit.

If you have any ideas on what I can do to expand my donation ability to more countries, I'd love to hear it! I'll try them one by one. If I can't do it, it's either because I don't know how to or it's stopping me due to my region.

Lance overnight free roaming (and other stuff)

So just yesterday, I let Lance roam around my room for a full day. Then I decided "why not let him roam the entire night?"

Its the next day and I am surprised. Lance MOSTLY peed on the blue training pads that I placed on the floor. The poop was more crazy around his cage (it's next to the bed.)

Either way, it wasn't hard to clean and I got everything Lance needed. His food, hay and water are in the cage, which I plan on leaving open 24/7. And the rest of my room is his playground.

He's doing great so far and I worry less now that I know that he's got a weird clock inside him where he's active in the morning and evening.

However, I just logged on amazon to make a wishlist. Unfortunately, none of the stuff I want is able to be delivered to my location (Malaysia) and I don't know how to fix it. As much as I hate asking for money to buy the stuff myself, I might have to if I'm not able to fix it. So for now, the wishlist will have to remain private until I'm able to find a solution.

What's wrong with Lance?

Usually he'd be jumping out the moment I open the gate. But, when I came home, cleaned his stuff and let his cage stay open the entire time, Lance didnt come out. Once. He hadn't even bothered to stick his head out like he usually does 2 days earlier. I brought him to my room hoping the change of scenery would maybe coerce him to come out. But, it's been nearly 1 whole hour.

I'm thinking maybe the fight between my mom and I had made Lance even more scared to leave. I didn't mean for it to happen but it did. Is he sick? Is he pissed at me? How long do I have to leave his cage open before I actually should start worrying?

EDIT: wait nevermind he's moving around again and now he's chewing on the tape on my shelf 💔

Rehoming Lance

Im not home right now but I just found out for the entire 7 hours that I've been away, NO ONE bothered to help take Lance downstairs, out of my room. I'm pissed and I'm frustrated beyond belief. I've decided that I'm going to get him out of my house as soon as possible.

Whether my mom objects to it, I don't care. She was one of the people that I asked to help take Lance downstairs and she ignored everything I told her. After next week, I have a 2 week holiday.

The 2 week holiday is just enough time for me to find someone capable of taking Lance in. I joined a bunny club Facebook group in my local area and asked for people who are capable of taking Lance in or at least know a special, good rehome place SPECIFICALLY for bunnies.

This entire trip meant sneaking behind my mom/family's back and meeting complete strangers on my own. Since I do not have a driving license, I will get a ride online.

In the time leading up to my meeting time (if I actually am able to plan it), I will try my absolute best to keep Lance safe, happy and healthy until I'm able to fully execute whatever I'm about to do.

I'll try to give an update later if I am able to.

EDIT: I FINALLY GOT ALFALFA HAY HOORAY

What is happening?

I let Lance free roam my room because he kept sitting inside his water bowl (I'm not sure why but this is the 3rd time I had to refill his bowl) And now he's been out for 10 minutes and he's been jumping around, running around and bumping into my wardrobe like crazy. I'm assuming that's normal but he only pooped once throughout the entire time. Is there anything I need to be worried about?

1st update on Lance (super important)

Thank you so much for the support in the previous post. As much as I am happy to finally get a reliable source, I still have bad news and good news on day 2 of Lance.

I blew up over half of my savings to buy all this since my mom isn't bothered to help me out with Lance. She said it was my responsibility now which also means she won't support me with money.

I tried my best to listen to the comments from my previous post. But I didn't get everything I needed. And besides, the shop I was in was very limited with options. So here's a simple breakdown.

-

🟡 What's changed?

  1. I'm now using training pads (the blue thing on the exposed part of the cage) and I'm hoping Lance will learn to pee there. I already noticed his peeing pattern in the cardboard box so I'm hoping to predict it here.

  2. Timothy chips. I saw another quality one but it was nearly RM60+ which could've easily blown over my bank account.

  3. Mineral stone hanging above the food (I didn't have anything else to entertain Lance with so I added it. Idk if it helps with anything. Please do tell if it's harmful.)

  4. Ceramic water bowl. It's for cats but I think Lance would need it more than the black plastic cap.

-

🔴 What's the problem?

  1. No free roam alternatives.

Other than the fact I'm poorer now, this is the most affordable cage I can get lance. The staff said they don't sell x pens unfortunately. I'll try my luck next time.

  1. There's no hiding spots.

All the 'hidey holes' in the shop were for hamsters which were far too tiny for Lance. I thought we had spare cardboard at home but I realised there's nothing at all. So I used the white cloth to cover as many spots as possible. It's not much but it's better than nothing.

  1. What happened to the cardboard box?

My family who took care of Lance while I was away for school, told me the box was already soaked with so much pee that's it's beyond saving. As much as I hate the cage, I'm so glad I bought it before coming home. Otherwise, Lance would have to live in a red container for the whole day (which is where they kept him in in the meantime)

  1. Not much entertainment.

I found some good rabbit chew stuff at the shop but they're not as cheap as the Timothy chips and mineral stone combined.

-

Right now, the main problem is my financial situation. As much as I'd love to buy every item that was recommended, I'm not a millionaire and I certainly am not close to being one. Before you Timothy CHIP off my head, read the 3rd note in the 'important info' or try reading some of my replies in the previous post.

**Why can't you just rehome Lance?**

-Unfortunately, with my situation, it's not as easy or simple as rehoming any other pet. Given that I'm just a minor, I have a very difficult time trying to find ways to give Lance a better chance at life.

I am aware of the damage of releasing lance into the streets. I am aware of the damage of giving Lance away without checking for his safety and well being. I am aware of the damage of simply returning Lance to the shop I got him from. Which is why I've decided to keep him until I either find a reliable rehome plan or I've managed to meet all the standards of keeping Lance.

❗ ((It's a really complicated situation which is why I refrain you from making negative, unhelpful comments about me specifically.))

I am trying my absolute best, as much as I hate being a caretaker as you are frustrated with me being a 'caretaker'. I acknowledge that while I am not the best person for Lance, I'm the only one he's got that's willing to do my best for him. Everyone else (my friends, my mom, etc.) except for my brother, my younger and older cousins, had made 'jokes' about telling me to get Lance fat so they can eat him. So the support I have irl is just as limited as my options to keep lance safe and happy.

*💥 IMPORTANT INFO BEFORE COMMENTING*

  1. YES. The cage has barred flooring. YES. I padded the flooring with two whole layers of training pads and folded cloth.

  2. NO. I am not able to send Lance to the vet today. NO. I haven't booked a visit yet.

  3. YES. I am a minor. NO. I do not have a reliable job or source of income. NO. I am not allowed to work. NO. I do not have an available donation account at the moment. NO. I do not know how to set a donation account. And NO. I did not consent to keeping Lance and was actively pressured into buying him by my mother.

  4. NO. I do not have any other source of income except for my mom. NO. I haven't found a solid rehoming plan yet. NO. There is no one capable in my contacts that seem responsible enough to take care of Lance on the long run.

  5. NO. My mother does not listen to the advice that you people sent to me. YES. She will only listen if it's related to my money and not hers.

If you have any more questions about the situation, please ask. I'll try my best to answer everything. I'm pretty busy since I'm juggling a tiring schedule of taking care of Lance, doing my muay thai practice and school related stuff. So if I don't respond I either:

  1. don't have an answer

  2. don't know how to answer

  3. dont understand the question

  4. I missed your comment altogether.

  5. I am uncomfortable with your comment if it does not give any useful advice and is just there to criticise me negatively for the situation that me and Lance are in.

I recommend seeing the previous post to get more information about my situation. I answered lots of questions there that might not be in today's post that could be useful.

-

Again, I want to thank everyone sincerely who helped in the previous post. I've never been more grateful in a situation where I thought I genuinely had no hope in. For now, I'll just read the comments until I find a way to improve Lance's living situation even further. This includes finding a way to get money and setting a reliable plan only related to Lance's well being. I still need to get Lance to the vet, buy him quality entertainment items, prepare hay and get a long lasting hidey hole. I wrote the list down on my phone so I can look at it later when I choose to buy stuff again.

What do I do with this guy??

This is Lance. I got him today and this is his temporary living space before we get him an actual enclosure tomorrow. (it's two boxes taped together. The extra box is filled with some soft cloth I found in my kitchen

I just cleaned lance but I want to dry him properly. He's been licking himself the entire time and won't let me dry him fully with a cloth. I'm scared that he'll get scared by the blow drier and ends up pooping everywhere again. I also don't know what environment I should leave lance in so he can get settled properly.

My mom said lance should stay down stairs because there's lots of noise (?) because my room is very lonely and quiet. I'm thinking of bringing lance into my room anyway and letting him listen to my jazz playlist.

I want lance to be as comfortable as possible while he's settling in. This is my first time as a rabbit owner I appreciate any piece of advice given :(

Update: lance pooped everywhere while I was typing
