Older car, paid off, looking for a cheaper alternative..

Damn massive hail storm did this my shit. Been doing the PDR works well, but there are just so many dings in this thing I just don’t have the time.

Cheap option: slowly piece together panels I can find

Cheapest option: fuck it bondo and repaint exterior and be done.

😂

Jokes aside, my three year-old took a flag marker used to mark underground pipes, etc. And said he drew me a picture while I was out of town working. Image attached…

I was hoping to get some insight as to what I should do to repair this. I also have a bunch of hail, dings all over it so I’m thinking of that as well.

First thought always jumps to body filler but not sure what you all think I can physically feel the scratches. My thought was if I did use a filler I might as well go back over the entire door, sand off the finish. Try to level it off and just repaint the entire thing..

I’m not as worried about mismatching paint since this is a car I use for solo driving for work, etc. 150 thousand miles paid off, etc.. I don’t want to pour a ton of money into it. I have explored replacement parts from salvage yards, 3rd parties, capa new, etc.. new parts get expensive fast. I’d rather just sand, fill, sand, prime, paint..

Anyone know what the part is called? Or part number? Etc?

Wife has a 2019 beetle final edition sel that has that ambient lighting feature on both door panels / door speakers.

Passenger side hasn’t been working in years.. assumed it was disconnected after some body work due to hail. So tonight I took the panel off, found of this is a transparent hard clear plastic rather than a led strip and the plastic is snapped off near the top by the connector.

Looks like it’s connected to the door panel itself so I assume I need to find an intact spare part.. thought I am curious about just filling a tube with water and hooking it back into the led… super ass backwards way of getting a simple color and they for sure completely over complicated this..
