Game Title: RVDIS

Description: Hello, everyone! I'm a brand new amateur gamedev and I'm developing a top-down ⁸gladiator themed roguelike called RVDIS! Since the focus of the game is fighting opponents in an arena, I want the combat to be fun and engaging before I build the rest of the game around it. As such, I have whipped up a rough prototype of the combat system and posted it on itch.io! I was hoping that I could get some feedback on if you guys think the combat is fun and intuitive. The general premise is that you have total control of your weapon rather than executing pre-scripted attacks. You swing by holding down click and dragging the mouse, you stab by scrolling, and you block by holding right click. Once a weapon hits max speed, it will become a heavy attack, granting you super armor and priority over incoming attacks. You can also clash weapons as a high skill alternative to blocking, since it refunds stamina whereas blocking drains it. There are also miscellaneous abilities like dashing and kicking (to break blocks, but not too useful against the AI enemy at this point). This isn't a comprehensive snapshot of the combat, as I want to add more weapons, dual wielding, throwing, grappling, more enemy types, more arenas, armor, etc. I just want to get the fundamental combat system feeling good.

Note: I HIGHLY RECOMMEND USING A MOUSE TO PLAY. Also, the enemy in this demo is fairly challenging. In the full game, there will be much easier enemies who you might fight in groups. However, for the combat test, I wanted the enemy to be fairly challenging so that it wasn't a cakewalk and I could focus on making one well-developed enemy AI. I will probably end up using this enemy AI as a miniboss.

My role in the development: solo developer!

Torn Banner Game Idea

Hello, everyone! I know that TB is currently working on No More Room in Hell 2, and likely working on Chivalry 3 in the background, but I just wanted to say that I think it would be really cool if they made a Chivalry style pirate game with sword fighting, black powder firearms, canons, and drivable ships/naval combat. I feel like their signature melee system would fit perfectly with some tweaking. Something like Team Objective where one team has to storm an island fort and the other has to defend, or two teams battling to sink the other's ship, or multiple teams racing to recover a buried treasure and escape sounds amazing. I know they won't make a game just because someone on Reddit suggested it, but I just wanted to put the idea out into the universe. Besides, they dabble in niche spinoffs from time to time, as was the case with Mirage: Arcane Warfare. What do you guys think?
