I’ve been trying to understand something and would really appreciate local perspectives, especially from people in Sikkim.

Why do some people in Sikkim feel unhappy about the merger with India (like after Annexation of Sikkim)? I’ve come across opinions suggesting that there’s still some resentment, but I’m not sure how widespread or accurate that is.

Also, I’ve noticed discussions about locals being uncomfortable with “outsiders.” Is this more about protecting local culture, identity, and resources, or is it something else?

I’m not trying to judge—just genuinely curious and hoping to understand the historical and social context better. Would love to hear from people who have lived experience or knowledge about this.
