Fellas, finally headed back to the states. While it's fresh on my mind wanted to give some tips and thoughts about Cartagena.

First, great country (rich history, beautiful architecture, and restaurants). But, the history is real many people will try to charge you left and right. Be sure to ask for the price upfront and if you're super suspicious...order and immediately ask for the check and pay when you're food and drinks come out!

Use Uber (safer and cheaper). If you use a taxi (i.e., from the airport to your hotel) use the Uber rates to negotiate. No trip within Bocagrande or from the airport to the Wall City or within that area should cost more 33.000 to 40.000 pesos (less than 10 USD).

No jewelry or brand named clothing when walking around. If you want to dress up or wear something nice simply Uber to your destination and Uber back. Street vendors and hustlers are insane a simple no will be good (but no smiling at them, prolonged looking, or even give them the slightest hope you are interested or willing to slow down).

Playa Hollywood is the spot but similar to other places, the vendors are aggressive. Say no and wave your hand away is sufficient. If you need a guy on the beach to be your "guide", I will send his WhatsApp. But, just know everyone is trying to finesse out there. Ask for prices upfront. Don't buy the speakers (bring your own), sunglasses, jewelry, or anything (it's mad overpriced). And, if you do...don't take the first price. Negotiate.

The clubs are good out there. Delirium is a Black Man's dream. Will find no better spot eye candy wise anywhere maybe on Earth (outside of Brazil). The drinks are overpriced (90.000 pesos for a jack and cola with a beer). Stick to beer only unless you don't mind getting taxed.

People drive like crazy, so just like being mindful of pick pockets. Be mindful of getting ran over...maybe even consider a Uber Comfort or XL if your taller like myself (leg room is critical lol).

Bro, don't fall in love when you get down here. It won't worth it mentally or financially. Your best bet is to learn the language and get a visa. If a woman claims she loves you only being around her for two days, she lying dawg.

Bring a pair of beat up shoes if you're walking in the Wall City (historically it's very similar to Nola - French Quarter and Bourbon Street), hate for you to mess up your shoes (especially for my sneaker heads).

Lastly, use discernment and good judgements. Wear shorts with pockets that have zippers. Watch your bags and your pockets (keep your wallet in your front pocket). Be curious and explore the tourist sights and know when to hold them. People will walk up to you and be like "my brother" and "what you looking for bro", even directions and recommendations come with a price. Don't take any pictures or record on busy streets (they will know you're a tourist and can increase your likelihood of being robbed).

All and all, I will be back and felt fine being able to do this trip solo if I wanted to do so. But, I would really recommend learning basic Spanish, traveling with at least one other person (that has good sense and is cultured), and navigate every situation with common sense (don't get drunk - maybe one or two drinks while you're out). Don't have any non-US citizen in your taxi or Uber (if you know what I mean) as some of the police are scamming. Invite them back to you and pay for the taxi fare when they arrive.

Immigration line is long so wear comfortable clothes and breathable clothes. Arrive at the airport on time and you might be subject to random inspections so don't bring anything x-rated or illegal. Some of us are genuinely here to potentially find long term partners, but many are not. They see you as an outsider and racism still exists (white passport bros get a pass even though they are worst at times). Be smart and be clean cut and you should be alright. Don't use tinder - the beach and Delirium will be plenty along with a few other spots.

Happy to answer any questions! Safe travels fellas!
