Naked ?

If I'd wish to age a cigar for some years, should the cigar be kept in cellophane or naked? Thanks for the replies

Surprise !

(See photos) I purchased this lighter from an antique dealer, complete with only the red booklet, as he wrote in the ad. After purchasing it, I looked at the last page of the booklet and read that it was printed in December 1996, meaning the lighter was manufactured later. Then, in the box, I saw that tab (indicated by the arrow). I lifted it, and the entire base rose up, revealing the presence of the Service Center booklet and the Warranty stamped by the original seller: December 16, 1998! Now I know for certain that the lighter was manufactured in 1997 or 1998.

Ashtray

I have not found an ashtray that can accommodate a cigar comfortably placed. No problem, I made the support myself.

D 1961 or I 1961 ?

The serial number of this Dupont petrol lighter of mine from 1946-47 is engraved in a particular way, it should be D1961, but the "D" could look like an "I" retyped to transform it into a "D". What do you think?

I recently overhauled two BS models and found differences in some details. These differences were introduced in 1966 when the serial numbering system switched from 5 to 6 digits, or in 1967 when the second version was introduced (from horizontal to vertical lettering on the bottom). I'm not sure about this, what do you think? Note the different flame valves: the old one is at the top, the new one at the bottom. Then the gas shut-off lever: the first version is on the right, the new one on the left. The plate stopper: the first version is on the right, the later one on the left. The pin and spring of the lid opening system: the first (longer) version is on the right, the later one on the left.

By looking at the bottom of a Dupont BS (or a BR, too), it's possible to determine the years the lighter was manufactured. In the photo, the first one from the left was made in 1959-1966, the second in 1966-67, the third in 1967-1972, and the fourth in 1972-73. The first examples, perhaps only of the small model (PM), had a two-piece flint slide, later replaced by a single-piece one (see photo of the two Windsor model).

I am a beginner in the world of cigars, one thing I would like to know is: The smoke must not be inhaled, ok, but should I hold it in my mouth for a few seconds or immediately exhale? And how much should I inhale, short puffs or long ones? Thank you all.

Sorry if I take advantage of you again, but being inexperienced I like to listen to your opinion. Today I purchased these cigars, the "Capitol" on the advice of the usual tobacconist, the box on my own initiative. What do you think? Thank you all.

Does anyone know the years (or year) of manufacture of the Dupont BR lighters with the slotted screw on the bottom, like the one on the BS? Many thanks
