**NWN1**
Has anyone ever done the maths on this? Assuming Keen Edge and Improved Criticals (obviously, as it is a prerequisite). My character is a Bard 20 / Fighter 10 / Red Dragon Disciple 10 with a Strength that is north of 40+.
I believe I once read that for a STR-build, two-handed weapons was better, and for DEX-build with Sneak Attacks, dual-wielding was better. But I don’t know if that is the case at such a high STR.
I can obviously get a ridiculously high amount of damage per attack with a Greatsword. Damage is often increased with Power Attack. But… am I wrong to think that activating Power Attack actually hinders me for Devastating Criticals? The -5 penalty to hit carries over to check if the critical is confirmed, right?
If I’m dual wielding scimitars instead, I get more attacks (with a -2 penalty on everything), crit range is increased to 12-20, but I lose the 1.5x STR-bonus to damage.
Basically, I just don’t know if my average output is better with :
A) Greatsword with Power Attack, but less chance to crit.
B) Greatsword without Power Attack, but more chances to confirm a crit.
C) Dual-Scimitars with Power Attack, but less chance to crit (greater range, but -7 on all attacks).
D) Dual-Scimitars without Power Attack, but more chances to confirm a crit (greater range, but -2 on all attacks, and more occurences/dice rolled).
Edit : This is for NWN1. Wielding a Scimitar two-handed is not an option.
