RN vs LPN
Has anybody else experienced animosity from LPNs towards RNs. I feel like my education, and hard work get
downplayed severely for being a young RN. I get it is unfair that I get paid so much more for doing a similar job in the workplace. I get LPNs trying to constantly humble me. It just comes across as nasty bullying behaviour so the last time I stood up for myself and said “I studied hard and my goal was to get into an RN program, and I did it! So why should I ever downplay my hard work to make others comfortable”
Plus it was to my knowledge that years ago LPNs were complaining about their scope being so small. They would say “well we can do that too not just an RN” so the government increased their scope, but not their pay. And that’s somehow another thing they love to complain about now. Our scope is the same but theirs a huge pay gap. Excuses me? I did not make the rules here on who gets paid what. So making my life harder at work won’t get us anywhere.
For context: I am a nurse in Alberta. I have never shown animosity towards LPNs I also cheered them on when they went on strike for a raise. I feel everyone deserves to be paid fairly.
